What were the inspirations for your stories?
Zombie Turkeys – frying a turkey and imagining it coming back to life.
My Undead Mother-in-law – What if your mother-in-law was a zombie?
Paranormal Privateers – What if you had a crew of zombies on a luxury yacht with a letter of marque from President Trump?
Do you write listening to music? If so, what music inspired or accompanied this current book?
Not unless I get stuck. When I get stuck, I listen to acoustic guitar, jazz, or blues or classical.
Do you pen down revelations and ideas as you get them, right then and there?
Yes. I have a whole document for each book full of ideas. I add as they occur.
Is writing your full-time career? Or would you like it to be?
Yes! Ever since I retired in October 2015 I’ve been writing.
Yes! This has been my dream career since high school.
If you had to pick one other author to write your biography, who would it be?
My favorite non-fiction author for my biography would be historian Paul Johnson. If I could go into the past, I’d pick CS Lewis.
What does your typical day look like?
9-10 : am start writing on my non-fiction book, The Gospel Medley.

What gives you inspiration for your books?
A word or phrase, like ‘zombie turkey’ or ‘undead mother-in-law’. A twist from an existing book, like ‘what happens if aliens attack during a zombie apocalypse?’ A comment from my wife, ‘you know what would be really cool?’ A conversation with my daughter, like, ‘This is the time of the year for the great pickle migration.’
Do you proofread and edit your work on your own or pay someone to do it for you?
Yes to both. I proofread my work until I can’t make it better and then I pay an editor for comments and improvement.
Can you share with us something about the book that isn’t in the blurb?
Zombie Turkeys – There are three romances in this book.
My Undead Mother-in-law – zombies are both popular and unpopular at the same time in this book.
Paranormal Privateers – There are pictures hidden in the back cover.
Have you ever incorporated something that happened to you in real life into your novels?
Yes, all the time. I’ve traveled over Illinois, the setting for Zombie Turkeys, Kansas, Dayton, and Loch Lomond, scenes from My Undead Mother-in-law, and to London, a scene in Paranormal Privateers.
